Installation

What is involved in an Installation?

From the plumbing of your water, to your own personal tutorial on the control panel installed in your service room, we handle everything! Wildrose Irrigation Inc. has all of the tools, to start and finish the job in an average of 2.5 days.

What if I have grass already? Will it be destroyed?

No! We own the very best in light duty vibratory plows, the UCE Superplow™. This machine cuts through your grass pulling the pipe 8 inches underground. In two weeks it will be impossible to tell that you have had an irrigation system installed!

How long will it take?

A typical installation takes 2.5 days at a typical residence. Our automated irrigation systems are started and worked on until they are finished. WE DO NOT LEAVE JOBS UNTIL THEY ARE DONE!

Do I have to be home?

Yes. It is necessary to have access to the house for the first 2 hours and the last 5 hours of the 2.5 day installation. And you want to get the tour once it is done!

How much will it cost?

$800.00/zone or if you team up with some neighbours, $750.00/zone. The number of irrigation zones necessary is completely yard specific; the square footage is no indication of how many zones you have. It really depends on landscape layout.

When should I get this done?

The best time to install an automated irrigation system is before you landscape your yard. Basically you should plant, put in hard landscaping such as fences and decks, then irrigation, then your ground cover (sod, bark mulch etc.) Installation season is mid April to mid October.

What is the warranty?

This is the best part! Your WILDROSE Irrigation System is covered for six, yes six, years full Parts AND Labour. Most companies only cover the cost of the parts. Not much good considering labour is usually the greatest expense when it comes to repairs. Please check out the warranty work we have done for customers in the past. WE BACK OUR WORK!

Repair

What should I do if I have a broken sprinkler head?

A broken sprinkler head is only going to leak when that zone comes on, so there is no immediate danger. Mark the area with a flag or a stake to save the technician the time to find it. Turn the controller dial to off until the leak has been repaired. Try not to get dirt in the hole!!!

What if my valve box or mainline is leaking?

This type of problem is more urgent and must be dealt with immediately. The water to the irrigation system must be turned off immediately. This type of repair requires the customer to be home unless there is an outside shutoff that can isolate the leak.

Why won't my system turn on?

There are three reasons your system may not turn on from the controller. 1. Either the water is not on, there is another valve between the main irrigation valve and the valve box that is off. 2. All of your valves are manually open inside the valve box thereby not allowing enough flow to any one particular zone. 3. Controller or wiring issues.

Why do some of my heads work but not others on the same zone?

If you have good pressure to, for example, 3 out of 6 heads that you know are on the same zone then this means the pipe leading to the last 3 heads filled with melting snow from the landscape and froze. There is no solution to this, we must wait for the line to thaw out.

Do I have to be home?

Only if you have a problem from the valve box or the mainline and you cannot isolate the problem with an outside shutoff.

How much will it cost?

Repairs are billed by the hour, plus the parts used. WRI's rate is $79.00/man per hour. The typical parts for a repair are sprinklers ($25.00-$49.00), valve solenoids ($39.00), nozzles ($7.50) and valves at $49.00. Installations and winterizations are our only services with a fixed charge.

How do I book repairs?

There is a 5% discount if you book your repairs online. Alternatively you can call us at 403-651-1812. Appointments are booked in windows of time depending on the nature of the issue. Our hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

If I have repairs right away in the Spring when will they be done?

WRI's goal is to quickly and efficiently start up all the "operational" systems first, then come back to the systems with moderate repairs and finally the systems with more serious repairs. This strategy ensures that the greatest number of customers are up and running at any point in time.

Maintenance

Can I just pay for the parts and do it myself?

Yes! If you wish to buy the best in quality parts, unlike the stuff you get at the big-box hardware stores, then just let us know! A service van will drop off the parts to your doorstep for a minimal charge!

What tools will I need?

There are some specialized tools for the job, however if you are replacing a head or a nozzle it can be as simple as spinning it off and spinning it back on, and adjusting it of course! We carry all the major brands.

Spring Start-up

What is a Spring Start-up?

This service is highly recommended. It includes turning on the irrigation water supply inside the house, checking the mainline from inside the house to the valve box(es) outside of the house, checking the timer (clock) for the correct schedule for watering, and the zone by zone inspection and adjustment of all sprinkler heads.

Why get the spring start up?

There are many reasons to get a WRI technician to start up and inspect your automated irrigations system. A damaged, faulty or even improperly adjusted system can cause thousands of dollars of damage in erosion and/or rotting. A leak or improperly adjusted sprinkler can cause the flooding of one area of the landscape and the drought of another. And we must not forget water staining, water wasting, and the loss of money due to a high water bill. A highly trained technician with over 250 inventory parts in van stock onsite is the most efficient and cost effective way to service your irrigation system.

How long will it take?

A typical start up will take at least 45 minutes. It could take longer if you have a larger system; 9 zones or more. If there are minor repairs the technician will try to fix them all during the start up. If the technician cannot "squeeze" the repairs into the allotted appointment then the office will be notified and another appointment will be booked.

Do I have to be home?

Yes. It is necessary to have access to the main irrigation shutoff valve and the control panel (timer, clock) during this service.

How much will it cost?

Start-ups and repairs are the billed by the hour, plus the parts used. WRI's rate is $79.00/man per hour. If you have a system 12 zones or under you will have one technician. The parts in a start up are usually minimal if the system has been maintained well in the past. The typical parts for a start-up are sprinklers ($25.00-$49.00), valve solenoids ($39.00), and nozzles at $7.50. Installations and winterizations are our only services with a fixed charge.

When should I get this done?

Your system should be started up between May 1st and June 15th. Although weather can push these dates around a bit, this is the general rule. Do not worry too much about being the first on the list as May and June have more precipitation than any other months in the year.

If I have repairs right away in the Spring, when will they be done?

WRI's goal is to quickly and efficiently start up all the "operational" systems first, then come back to the systems with moderate repairs and finally the systems with more serious repairs. This strategy ensures that the greatest number of customers are up and running at any point in time.
